Course Description

​Assessing security and privacy controls is essential for determining system risk and compliance. NIST SP 800‑53A provides authoritative guidance for evaluating control effectiveness.


The NCSP® 800‑53A Foundation Certificate is a 2‑day, instructor‑led course introducing participants to control assessment principles and practices as defined in NIST SP 800‑53A. This course explains assessment procedures, evidence collection, evaluation methods, and alignment with NIST CSF 2.0.


Participants learn how to apply foundational assessment concepts across systems and operations, preparing them for more advanced NCSP® audit and compliance training.
