NIST Cybersecurity Professional®

(NCSP®) 800‑46 Foundation Certificate

Course Description

Remote work introduces unique security challenges across devices, networks, and applications. NIST SP 800‑46 provides authoritative guidance for securing telework, remote access, and BYOD environments.

The NCSP® 800‑46 Foundation Certificate is a 2‑day, instructor‑led course introducing participants to the principles and practices of remote access security as defined in NIST SP 800‑46. This course explains telework risks, remote access technologies, BYOD considerations, and alignment with NIST CSF 2.0.

Participants learn how to apply foundational remote security concepts across systems, networks, and users, preparing them for more advanced NCSP® operational and infrastructure security training.

What You Will Learn

Participants gain knowledge NIST SP 800-46 and how to develop, implement, and maintain effective, secure, remote working practices. You will learn:

  • How NIST SP 800‑46 aligns with NIST CSF 2.0 and supports secure remote operations.

  • The core concepts of telework, remote access, and BYOD security.

  • How to secure remote devices, networks, and applications.

  • How to implement VPNs, remote gateways, and authentication mechanisms.

  • How to manage remote user behaviour and policy compliance.

  • How to monitor and validate remote access security.
