NIST Cybersecurity Professional®

(NCSP®) 800‑47 Foundation Certificate

Course Description

Interconnected systems introduce shared risks, dependencies, and trust boundaries that must be carefully managed. NIST SP 800‑47 provides authoritative guidance for planning, establishing, and maintaining secure system interconnections.

The NCSP® 800‑47 Foundation Certificate is a 2‑day, instructor‑led course introducing participants to the principles and practices of secure system interconnection as defined in NIST SP 800‑47. This course explains how to assess interconnection risks, define agreements, implement controls, and align interconnection security with NIST CSF 2.0.

Participants learn how to apply foundational interconnection security concepts across networks, systems, and organisational boundaries, preparing them for more advanced NCSP® architecture and governance training.

What You Will Learn

Participants gain foundational knowledge and best practices for planning, establishing, maintaining, and discontinuing the sharing of data across organisational boundaries. You will learn:

  • How NIST SP 800‑47 aligns with NIST CSF 2.0 and supports secure system interconnections.

  • The core concepts of interconnection agreements, trust boundaries, and shared risk.

  • How to plan, document, and approve interconnections.

  • How to implement controls for interconnected systems.

  • How to monitor and manage interconnection security.

  • The role of continuous improvement in maintaining secure interconnections.

Course Agenda
