NIST Cybersecurity Professional®

(NCSP®) 800‑190 Foundation Certificate

Course Description

Containerised applications introduce unique security challenges across images, registries, orchestration platforms, and runtime environments. NIST SP 800‑190 provides authoritative guidance for securing container ecosystems.

The NCSP® 800‑190 Foundation Certificate is a 2‑day, instructor‑led course introducing participants to container security principles and practices as defined in NIST SP 800‑190. This course explains container lifecycle risks, image management, runtime protections, orchestration security, and alignment with NIST CSF 2.0.

Participants learn how to apply foundational container security concepts across development, deployment, and operational environments, preparing them for more advanced NCSP® cloud, DevSecOps, and application security training.

What You Will Learn

Participants gain knowledge of NIST SP 800-190 and how to protect modern application environments. You will learn:

  • How NIST SP 800‑190 aligns with NIST CSF 2.0 and supports container security programs.

  • The core concepts of container architectures and lifecycle risks.

  • How to secure container images, registries, and build pipelines.

  • How to apply runtime protections and orchestration controls.

  • How to monitor container environments for threats and anomalies.

  • How to integrate container security into DevSecOps workflows.
